Sukarma is one of the most talented and innovative groups playing classical and folk music in Nepal today. Sukarma's philosophy is two-fold. Firstly, the musicians seek to serve music itself by devoting themselves to their art and by celebrating it as the symbol of their own Sukarma. Secondly, they seek to inspire appreciation of traditional music in young generations by playing raga and indigenous folk music in a way that is faithful to the spirit of the music but has a modern flavor.

One way in which this is accomplished is by allowing folk and raga music to freely converse, enriching and embellishing each other. Also the unusual convergence of classical and folk instruments, represented by the various solo instruments "sitar, sarangi, flute and Tabla", presents a broadening of possibilities for dynamic musical expression.

Sukarma, one of the co-founders and members of Singhini Research Centre, is working for the promotion and preservation of Nepali traditional and classical music. The members of Sukarma have been travelling extensively in different parts of the world such as USA, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Italy, Japan and Kyrgyzstan. The group has also released several CDs such as Karma, Kirateswar (with classical ragas), Ghansi (fusion of classical and folk), Mustang (music for meditation) and Upasana (a unique and rare combination of sarangi and sitar), Mountain Mantra. The members of Sukarma are regular performer on national Nepali radio and Television.
